Food Pantry Programs - The Food Shoppe
The Food Shoppe is a pantry program providing a free supply of emergency groceries every Thursday from 2-6 p.m.
We serves Salem, MA residents who are unemployed, working poor, and/or underemployed, individuals with disabilities, those with health issues and related costs, the elderly and children.
The program is designed to provide one food order per household or shared kitchen. Persons residing in the same household and sharing a kitchen will receive food as one household.
Types of food distributed include a variety of nonperishable items, perishable items, including frozen meat, fresh milk, formula, and baby food. Food sources include donated, purchased, and reclaimed food from a variety of sources including the Greater Boston Food Bank.
The Food Pantry offers clients more than food. Our clients routinely request personal hygiene items, including shampoo, soap, toothpaste, diapers and more, so we also welcome these donations.
Pantry operations are supported entirely by generous and dedicated volunteers. Volunteers deliver food to homebound clients through our Moving Market program (please see above for more information).
